Welcome

Dear Residents of the 28th Ward:
Working along with many of you, we have made substantial improvements in the 28th Ward in business, housing and in the community in general. We could not have made some of the improvements without your involvement. Our efforts to get business to come into the ward have been very productive.
Today, new and potential businesses are calling on us for an opportunity to do business in the 28th Ward. Answering the calls gives us an opportunity to select the best possible businesses that create sustainable jobs and improve the quality of life in our community. We are looking for valued businesses and community partners that adhere to a set of rules and standards that are superior in quality and service to the 28th Ward residents and visitors.New banks that have come to the ward are signs of economic growth and stability. They do business in the community and they want to be a part of the growth and continued development of the 28th Ward.
Now we must raise the bar and again pursue first class grocers, retail stores and other small businesses to offer superior products to our residents. I will lead that challenge and get the city involved to help.We have come a long way and we still have much to do......It takes years to learn the voluminous city code and to acquire the workable skills that I have acquired in business and government. My strong business background as branch manager and manager of marketing for Chicago Economic Development Corporation is a great advantage in attracting businesses that we need in the 28th Ward. I am number six in seniority in the Chicago City Council. I am well experienced in city government and will continue to utilize that knowledge to bring to fruition several projects in progress and identify others that will be excellent for the ward.
If you need to discuss with me any issue or have concerns call me. I am available to see you in my office or I will come and visit with you at your home. Leave a number if you call and I am not in, I will return you call. I work for the community and I want to be the best possible representative for residents in the 28th Ward.I have kept my integrity, responsibility, character and professional standards to be of service to you and I will continue in that spirit. I will never compromise your trust and will never let you down. I appreciate you all and thank you for your support. Thanks very much.
Ed H. Smith,Your Alderman
